Kidd Rifft

  • What is your name and what city do you rep?

My name is Rubin, but I go by Kidd Rifft when recording. I represent Birmingham, Alabama.

  • What's unique about your music?
What makes my music and I different has to be the articulate lyrics and vision behind what I do. The industry is very saturated with artists that want to mimic a style that already thrives and exists, while I look to develop and build up my own unique voice.
  • What shaped your music?
  • What shaped my music would have to be the handful of artists that really inspire me like Childish Gambino, Outkast, and The Weeknd. Also, my dad has a pretty good influence on my music because he has some decent experience and connections through music. He always encourages me to practice and make things that are unique to me.
  • When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?

Since I was little, I always imagined myself making music professionally, but around the summer of 2017, I actually started taking the steps towards it.

  • What type of music do you listen to?

I listen to a wide range of music that varies kind of based on my mood. I could probably name a favorite artist for Rap, R&B, Pop, Alternative, & Soul

  • Who, to you, is the most undervalued music artist?

I believe that Rexx Life Raj is a pretty undervalued artist. He has great range in his music and constantly delivers sounds that can be felt and make you think.

  • How do you prepare for your performances?

I have not had my first performance yet. There are a few sounds that I would like to develop and release before that happens, but it is definitely coming.

  • What ignites your (song) writing flow?

When it comes to my song writing flow, it's pretty much self start. I either hear a beat that inspires something from me or an emotion that I've felt just ignites certain lyrics and a melody.

  • Success to you is...

I would define success as expanding my sound to a global audience and being able to solidify Birmingham as an industry hotspot comparable to renown cities like Atlanta or Nashville.

  • Any upcoming projects?

Possibly. I have some singles stored away so I might go ahead and release a EP

  • Where do we find you music / music project?

Currently you can find my music on most free streaming platforms like SoundCloud, YouTube, Audiomack, and Spinrilla.
