Jayso Westside
Tuscaloosa,AL
- What is your name and what city do you rep? Jayso Westside/ Tuscaloosa, AL
- What is unique about you and your music? There's nothing unique about me personally other than I'm just me & no one can be me better than myself. I created my own style called Dunker Musik. It's raw, rough & can I tend to get real disrespectful for those who like that kind of music, but it can also transverse into different genres.
- What shaped your music? My upbringing & everyday life, everything that I keep in my head that I be wanting to express.
- When did you realize you were going to make music professionally? It came to me in high school maybe 9th or 10th grade but I really just got focused on it in the beginning of 2019.
- What type of music do you listen to? I listen to EVERYTHING. Rap, r&b, rock, alternative, pop, everything you can think of I just like music altogether.
- Who, to you, is the most undervalued music artist? J.Cole...he definitely doesn't get all the credit that he does media wise & as a mainstream artist.
- How do you prepare for your performances? I haven't done many performances it's kind of difficult balancing that with working a 9-5 but for the few I have done I don't need much preparation I might go over the song(s) in my head a few times & that's it.
- What ignites your (song) writing flow? Whatever the beat makes me feel & whatever comes to my head first is what I write about.
- What do you do when you don't do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about? I draw & work on my upcoming clothing line "Dunker City Apparel".
- Success to you is... Success to me is being able to look out for everyone who looked out for me, being able to be in a position to take care of my family & friends who stuck by me & to actually make a name for the city I was raised in.
- What do you wish you were told when you first started rapping that you think would help anyone recently starting artists out? Don't be afraid to ask for help. The worst response you could get is a No.
- Any upcoming projects? I'm currently not working on any projects I'm not really mixtape or ep kinda guy. I might have a video or two coming soon but that's about it.
- Where do we find you music / music project? You can find any of my music at the following links:
