JaxXxon

  • What is your name and what city do you rep?

-I go by JaxXxon (pronounced Jax-e-on, like Corleone just with a J) formally know as G.Q.  I represent Birmingham, Alabama

  • What is unique about you and your music?

-Well, first I don't consider myself as a rapper. I label myself as an artist because music to me is a form of art. It can take you to many places, have you feeling different emotions and overall bridges gaps between many different opposites. I also don't like to limit myself to just one genre of music. I make music for everybody and try to make sure to paint a vivid picture that you can see in your mind. Every song I do before recording I try to imagine what I would do if I were to make a video to it. If I can see that in my mind then I am pretty sure listeners can do the same. I can guarantee that anybody that listens to my library of music, they will be able to relate and feel at least one track. Im very versatile, I might give you a motivational track, club track, trap track, gospel track, rock/alternative/techno feel track...whatever im feeling at that moment. I put my all into my art so that each listener will have their very own experience and resurrect the beauty of music.

  • What shaped your music?

-Many things has shaped my music. Personal experience, dreams (wake up like damn that will be a hit), thoughts, motivation to myself and others, family, past and current artist, and just being able to get my point of view of certain situations out through music.

  • When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?

-Lets be clear lol... I have retired from the game at least a good 4 to 5 times. Even though I have taken multiple breaks from the game, something keeps bringing me back to music. Basically, music is my first love and I just cant seem to let her go. I have been dealing with music since I was about 4. I had the lightbulb moment that this was something I should stick with when (1) my brother/music partner Q Dot Davis, Stan G. and Demarcus Holloway kept reaching out to me about it. They would send me a track here and there or offer me a show to do and I would do it and get great feedback to the point I had listener not just in the U.S but other countries as well. This last time of me returning to the music industry has taken off and nothing but the sky is the limit.

  • What type of music do you listen to?

-All genres of music.... rap, r&b, jazz, classical, rock, gospel, alternative, soft rock... I can appreciate all music types, that's why I think I have been successful (being able to take something from each genre)

  • Who, to you, is the most undervalued music artist?

-Wow!! That is a great question. If I could say myself and our whole U Gotta Pay Me team, I would lol. Seriously though, they are many undervalued artist out there. I think Da Baby, Joyner Lucas, Ju Julia just to name a few

  • How do you prepare for your performances?

-Usually just relaxing throughout the day and going over the tracks I will be performing. Take a few shots, roll a few to get my mind right and focused, talk with the moms and a few friends, and always ALWAYS pray and give thanks to God for blessing myself and my team with the skill set and talent to do this... and presenting the opportunity to display to the world what we have been blessed with.

  • What ignites your (song) writing flow?

- Just personal experience sometime. The real fire to my flame is writing quality music to see my dream become a reality and most importantly my fans and supporters. When it is all said and done, I do this for them. They are my gas to my flame, the give me reason to continue to make quality music and long as they keep listening and supporting, I am not going anywhere again.

  • What do you do when you don't do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?

-I try to rest and take it easy.. spend time with family and friends, travel, I coach middle and high school basketball and also play myself in different leagues... deal with my mentoring program for young me called League of Extraordinary Gentlemen... My side gig is I am a personal trainer so I train athletes and individuals who are tryin go better themselves physically and mentally.. also participate in many community functions with my fraternity (Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. shout out to the Nupes lol).. I just try and enjoy myself and life.. you only get one shot at it so make it spectacular!!!

  • Success to you is...

-Each person I think has there own definition of success. Some may say achieving their goals and some may some financial success. You can be successful without making one single dollar and at the same time you can make a million dollars without actually being successful. So, I just think success is what you make of it and accomplishing what one sets out to get done. Personally, I would rather make a classic than make a hit when it comes to this music thing (think about that)

  • What do you wish you were told when you first started rapping that you think would help anyone recently starting artists out?

-To artist that's up and coming...1) brand and market yourself and be unique.. do not try to copy anybody else... be yourself ...2) Don't jump on first deal that is presented to you and read all fine prints and contracts.. 3) build and have a strong team behind that you can trust.. it can be done but its hard to do this alone and the rewards will be greater when you can share it with the same savages that have the same mindset and want to as you..4) know the business.. read up on new things within the industry and keep striving to better yourself ...5) but what you want but don't go crazy and ball out lol money goes fast... 6) don't be afraid to put yourself out there.. you never know until you put it out there and see what happens.. be able to take criticism both good and bad 7) and last have fun and enjoy it...

  • Any upcoming projects?

-Yes, I have my double sided EP dropping called Ressurektion of Musik/Champagne Nights dropping late Feb. early March... Joint EP with Q Dot Davis entitled Clyde and Claude...and lastly joint EP dropping in May with Stan G. of CLMG
