  • What is your name and what city do you rep?

I'm HBN, my birth name is Robin Krekels and I grew up in Antwerp (Belgium). I still live here.

  • What is unique about you and your music?

I always try to create different vibes with different songs and express feelings where other people can relate to. I wouldn't call my music 100% unique and singular, because I'm very inspired by a lot of other rappers. But I definitely found my own sound.

  • What shaped your music?

Every song is shaped by the way I feel at a certain moment. I just listen a lot to random beats, and when the beat matches my vibe / mood I automatically start creating lyrics and flows in my head in just a few seconds. For example, I made the whole chorus for Y U B Like That in the shower, just because the beat that came up was straight fire and it was 100% matching my vibe at that specific moment.

And my latest single "nighttime" just came straight from my heart.

  • When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?

I never did. For me it's like a hobby / a passion and we'll see where it ends.

No expectations, no dissappointments.

  • What type of music do you listen to?

Lately I've been listening a lot to Young Thug, Juice WRLD, Trippie Redd, Rich The Kid, Lil Baby, ILOVEMAKONNEN, Global AzN and Lil Skies.

  • Who, to you, are some of the most undervalued music artists?

Global AzN, 916frosty and Oliver Francis.

  • How do you prepare for your performances?

I've only had one performance so far, so I don't really have an answer on that.

  • What ignites your (song) writing flow?

It comes very spontaneously. Sometimes when I listen to a beat, I start freestyling in my head and then I write it down. After that I just sing it to my front camera on my iPhone in order not to lose my flow. (laughs)

  • What do you do when you don't do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?

Enjoying life as much as possible and helping other people.

  • Success to you is...

  • What do you wish you were told when you first started rapping that you think would help anyone recently starting artists out?

I only started making music a few months ago, so I don't really know. Maybe artists should be more aware of how the industry really works, because I think you can get fucked over real quick and not everyone is aware of that.

  • Any upcoming projects?

I'm working on a EP which I would like to release by the end of 2019. And beyond that I just keep on making music as much as possible, no big plans, and I'll see what comes my way!

  • Where do we find your music / music projects?

Every song that I released can be found on almost every platform! Search for "HBN" and you'll find my music on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer etc. I communicate almost everything via Instagram: @therealhbn
